This is an office-based role requiring regular on-site presence, with hands-on responsibilities for network hardware and infrastructure.
What will you do?
- Provide first-level operational support for network infrastructure, including incident and problem triage, troubleshooting and escalation in alignment with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices.
- Support network changes and apply hardware and software knowledge across technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancing, wireless networks, remote-access VPN and related network services.
- Coordinate the lifecycle of network hardware, including receiving and validating shipments, staging approved configurations and firmware, maintaining inventory and asset records, and coordinating secure shipping and delivery.
- Coordinate warranty replacements, vendor returns, decommissioning and environmentally responsible recycling while maintaining appropriate equipment and chain-of-custody records.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, vendors and service providers to deliver assigned operational and project work, maintain accurate technical documentation and knowledge articles, and provide backup support when required.
What do you need to succeed?
- Experience supporting network devices, with knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN and WAN technologies, routing and switching, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, VPN gateways and firewalls.
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Industry-recognized networking certification such as Cisco CCENT, CCT or CCNA.
- Ability to safely handle and move network equipment weighing up to 40 lbs as part of hardware receiving, staging, deployment and shipping responsibilities.
- Ability to coordinate work across multiple locations, collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, maintain accurate documentation, and support overtime outside regular business hours when required.
This role requires Reliability Security Clearance. In addition to a law enforcement inquiry and a credit check, as part of your application, the Government of Canada will ask if you lived or travelled outside of Canada for 6-consecutive months during the last 5 years, and you must account for all activities during this time.
What’s in it for you?
- An office-based role that supports close collaboration with Network Operations colleagues and hands-on network hardware activities.
- Competitive salary and bonus structure influenced by market range data.
- Pension, stock, and savings programs to help build long-term financial security.
- A collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Participation in continuous improvement initiatives that support digital enterprise experience.
- Professional development aligned to Sun Life’s purpose of helping clients and employees achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.
- A practical dress code based on the needs of the day.
- Opportunities to explore a variety of career paths and build a strong internal network.
