Permit types, rates and availability

Which parking permits does Cambridge offer?

The City offers Daytime, Residential, Commercial 24-hour and temporary lot permits. They apply to one specific lot, not every municipal lot. Availability is limited, first come first served, with waiting lists for sold-out locations.

What are the 2026 permit rates?

The current page gives a range of $65 to $115 per month, depending on the permit. Purchase through the City Hall Service Counter. Check the relevant 2026 application for the exact lot, permit type and conditions.

How do annual and temporary payments differ?

Applications, alternatives and work zones

Where do I apply?

Use the separate 2026 Residential, Daytime, Temporary or Commercial 24-hour application links. For temporary permits, contact Service Cambridge. A submitted application does not guarantee space in a full lot or a place ahead of its waiting list.

Is there a lower-cost alternative for core workers?

The page says each core area has one or more free 12-hour lots. Check posted rules and the current parking maps for the actual location. A free daytime lot should not be assumed to permit overnight storage.

Can renovation contractors reserve curb spaces?

Downtown renovation work can use temporary on-street vehicle permits at $15 per space per day. Arrange them with transportation@cambridge.ca at least three business days ahead. This is separate from a general residential guest exemption.

Accessible parking rules and applications

What if I need a bin, crane or unhitched trailer?

A Highway Occupancy Permit is needed in addition to parking permits when on-street spaces hold storage bins, unhitched trailers, cranes, heavy vehicles or other obstructions. Tell staff the actual equipment, not just the number of vehicles.

Does an accessible permit make parking free?

No. Cambridge says accessible spaces have the same rates and regulations as regular spaces. Display a valid accessible permit clearly whenever occupying a designated bay. A permit for one City lot does not replace the provincial accessible permit.

What is the fine for using an accessible bay without a permit?

The City lists a $400 fine when a valid accessible permit is not clearly displayed, plus any location-specific or time-specific fines. ServiceOntario issues the accessible permit, not the municipal parking-permit desk.

Where does the City direct accessible-permit applicants?

The page names the ServiceOntario Drivers Vehicle Licence Bureau at 561 Hespeler Road for an application. Confirm current ServiceOntario service availability before visiting. Municipal lot permits and provincial accessible permits are different applications.
